Children develop quickly in their early years, at Playdor we aim to do all we can to help our children have the best possible start in life.
Children have a right to a provision which enables them to develop their personalities, talents, and abilities irrespective of ethnicity, culture or religion, home language, family background, learning difficulties, disabilities or gender.

At Playdor nursery, our main focus is PLAY which allows learning to take place with all the seven areas of learning. We believe that children learn best when they are engaged, curious, engrossed and happy, which in their early years of life, is best achieved through play.

Our approach is to give children time, space and freedom to explore their interests as we believe they have the powers to transform into anything they can imagine. Our approach has a mixture of adult-initiated play; child-led play and in the moment.

Adult-initiated play

Our practitioners will initiate activities to support and facilitate learning to ensure there is breadth and depth to their learning opportunities. The activities planned are planned with purpose, from interests; observation; interactions; information from parents and termly development assessments.

Child-led play

Our open and free continuous provision allows children to follow their own play to discover, invent and explore. We know that when children feel safe, they open their mind and discover through play and our practitioners will follow their lead to support them when required or requested to further their learning.

In the moment

At Playdor we do not like to miss learning opportunities. So, with this in mind, we ensure that we capture the interests and moments that our children and families bring forward. Our practitioners recognise when a “teachable moment” arises and will fully immerse themselves into teaching mode to drive this moment forward.

Our wonderful practitioners will use their magic powers to support each child to stretch their learning; their imaginations and their creativeness. We see children as confident and capable learners that need time and our presence to feel safe enough to play and learn. We believe that every children will shine and flourish within the right environment.

Is it our intent that every child will leave our setting having developed physically, socially, emotionally and cognitively with lots of spirit, in an environment full of happiness that values all cultures, communities and families.

Children are born ready, able, and eager to learn. They actively reach out to interact with other people and the world around them. Development is not an automatic process; it depends on each unique child having opportunities to interact in positive relationships and an enabling environment.
